Barbara Kelly is a storyteller.

Her body of work includes original thrillers, dramas and comedies for film, TV and theatre, as well as play and book adaptations.

Her love affair with “the word” took seed in Maracaibo, Venezuela, where she was born to her wryly perceptive Hungarian mother and her raconteur English father. While one passport says she’s Canadian and her second says she’s British, Barbara knows she is really a global citizen.

Using reality as a prototype, Barbara creates and takes up temporary residence in new fictional worlds, but can also embrace and step into pre-existing ones. She’s a keen observer of human behaviour and well-practised in research, analysis and story editing – all of which help her to balance the big picture against the awareness that the devil is truly in the details.
